ADHD Evaluations in Rockwall, TX

Comprehensive ADHD Testing for Children, Teens & Adults

Difficulty focusing isn't always ADHD, and ADHD isn't simply "having trouble paying attention."

Many children, teenagers, and adults struggle with organization, forgetfulness, impulsivity, emotional regulation, or completing everyday tasks. These challenges can affect school performance, work productivity, relationships, confidence, and mental health. At Dr. Vaccaro Counseling Group, we provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations designed to identify not only whether ADHD is present, but also the factors contributing to attention and executive functioning difficulties.

Our evaluations go beyond brief screening questionnaires.

Every assessment includes clinical interviewing, computerized cognitive testing, standardized rating scales, and personalized recommendations so individuals and families leave with meaningful answers, not simply a diagnosis.

Whether you're seeking ADHD testing for your child entering school, a teenager struggling academically, or an adult wondering why everyday tasks feel overwhelming, we're here to help.

What Is ADHD?

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting attention, executive functioning, impulse control, and self-regulation.

Although many people associate ADHD with hyperactivity, symptoms often look very different depending on age and presentation.

Individuals with ADHD may experience:

  • Difficulty sustaining attention
  • Frequently losing items
  • Forgetting assignments or responsibilities
  • Poor organization
  • Trouble following multi-step directions
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • Difficulty beginning or completing tasks
  • Restlessness or excessive talking
  • Impulsive decision making
  • Chronic procrastination
  • Difficulty managing time
  • Frequent careless mistakes

Because ADHD shares symptoms with anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, learning disorders, and stress, an accurate evaluation is essential.

ADHD Testing for Children & Adolescents

As children enter elementary school, middle school, and high school, increasing academic demands often make ADHD symptoms more noticeable. Many parents initially contact us because their child is:

  • Constantly forgetting homework
  • Losing school materials
  • Easily distracted
  • Struggling to stay organized
  • Falling behind despite being intelligent
  • Having emotional meltdowns over homework
  • Frequently getting into trouble for talking or interrupting
  • Avoiding schoolwork
  • Taking hours to complete assignments
  • Becoming increasingly anxious about school

Our evaluations help determine whether these concerns are related to ADHD, anxiety, executive functioning weaknesses, learning differences, sleep concerns, or another condition.

Our Child ADHD Evaluation Includes

Every evaluation is individualized but may include:

Comprehensive Parent Interview

We begin with an in-depth clinical interview reviewing:

  • Developmental history
  • Medical history
  • Family history
  • School history
  • Previous interventions
  • Behavioral concerns
  • Social functioning
  • Emotional development

Standardized ADHD Rating Scales

Gathering information from multiple settings allows us to determine whether symptoms are occurring across environments, an important part of an accurate ADHD diagnosis.

Computerized Cognitive Testing

Using CNS Vital Signs, we evaluate several areas of brain functioning including:

  • Sustained attention
  • Executive functioning
  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Working memory
  • Processing speed
  • Visual memory
  • Verbal memory
  • Reaction time
  • Response inhibition

Emotional & Behavioral Screening

Because anxiety and mood disorders frequently coexist with ADHD, evaluations may include:

  • Sleep Quality
  • Child Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Worry
  • Self-Concept

This helps us understand the complete clinical picture rather than focusing on attention alone.

ADHD Testing for Adults

Many adults spend years believing they are simply "bad at staying organized."Others have learned to compensate for ADHD symptoms through intelligence, hard work, or perfectionism until increasing responsibilities at work, graduate school, parenting, or relationships make those strategies no longer effective.Adults often seek an evaluation because they experience:

  • Chronic procrastination
  • Difficulty completing projects
  • Constant distraction
  • Poor time management
  • Missed deadlines
  • Forgetfulness
  • Mental exhaustion from trying to stay organized
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Difficulty prioritizing
  • Trouble maintaining routines

Many adults are diagnosed later in life after their child receives an ADHD diagnosis and they begin recognizing similar lifelong patterns in themselves.

Our Adult ADHD Evaluation Includes

Our adult assessment is designed to evaluate attention while also considering anxiety, depression, sleep, stress, and executive functioning. The evaluation may include:

Comprehensive Clinical Interview

We review:

  • Childhood symptoms
  • Educational history
  • Occupational functioning
  • Medical history
  • Family history
  • Current concerns
  • Emotional functioning
  • Daily executive functioning

Standardized ADHD Measures

Adult evaluations include:

  • Self-Report
  • Observer report from a spouse, partner, parent, sibling, or trusted individual when available

Obtaining collateral information helps strengthen diagnostic accuracy.

Computerized Neurocognitive Assessment

Using CNS Vital Signs, we assess:

  • Attention
  • Processing speed
  • Executive functioning
  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Verbal memory
  • Visual memory
  • Response inhibition
  • Reaction time

Mental Health Screening

We also evaluate for conditions that frequently overlap with ADHD including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Chronic stress
  • Sleep quality
  • Excessive worry

ADHD symptoms can overlap with many other concerns.Someone who appears inattentive may actually be experiencing:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Chronic stress
  • Learning disorders
  • Autism spectrum differences
  • Executive functioning weaknesses

Our goal is not simply to determine whether ADHD is present, but to understand the full picture so recommendations are meaningful and individualized.

Following testing, families receive:

  • A comprehensive written report
  • Clear diagnostic impressions
  • Detailed explanation of findings
  • Personalized recommendations
  • School accommodation recommendations when appropriate
  • Home-based executive functioning strategies
  • Treatment recommendations
  • Community resources
  • Referral guidance if additional services may be beneficial

We believe an evaluation should leave families with practical next steps, not unanswered questions.

Evaluations are completed by a licensed psychologist with specialized training in psychological assessment, neurodevelopmental disorders, and evidence-based diagnostic practices. Our practice emphasizes thoughtful, individualized evaluations rather than relying on a single questionnaire or brief screening.

Children can  be evaluated at our practice beginning around age six, depending on developmental history, school concerns, and presenting symptoms.

Most evaluations include:

  • Approximately 2-hour clinical/testing appointment
  • One hour Feedback session to review results and recommendations
  • 1-2 week turn around time

It is recommended that this report is shared with your school district, PCP, psychiatrist and any other recommended providers.

Yes. ADHD and anxiety commonly occur together. One reason our evaluations are comprehensive is to determine whether attention difficulties are caused by ADHD, anxiety, or both.

Absolutely. Many adults meet criteria for ADHD but were never evaluated during childhood, particularly those who developed strong coping strategies or primarily have inattentive symptoms.

Our computerized screening system targets specific executive functioning, reaction time, and memory components to explore current symptomatology.

Yes. When clinically appropriate, additional psychological, psychoeducational, or autism evaluations can be recommended or completed to better understand the full clinical picture.

The cost of the ADHD evaluation depends on the provider of the assessment. Working with one of our LPC's is $650 for clinical interview, assessment, report write up and feedback session. Working with Dr. Vaccaro is $1,000.

Assessments are billed out of pocket and can be sent to your insurance for partial reimbursement. Reimbursement amount depends on the insurance plan and can range from about 45-85%. We can help you determine the specific amount you will receive prior to your appointment.
