Comprehensive Autism Evaluations in rockwall texas

Premier Autism Assessment Center for Children, Teens, Adults, and Complex Diagnostic Cases

If you’re searching for answers—whether for your child or yourself—you deserve more than a quick screening or a surface-level diagnosis. At Dr. Vaccaro Counseling Group, I provide comprehensive, specialist-led evaluations designed to give you a clear understanding of how you or your child thinks, learns, and functions across real-life environments.

This is a core area of my practice. My work extends well beyond testing to include therapy, parent training, group work, and collaboration with schools and community providers. That level of involvement allows me to approach each evaluation with depth, precision, and a strong understanding of what actually helps individuals succeed—not just on paper, but in everyday life.

A Truly Comprehensive Evaluation Approach

Rather than separating concerns into multiple evaluations, I provide an integrated, full-picture assessment that includes:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluation
  • ADHD assessment
  • Psychoeducational testing for learning differences

These areas are often interconnected. By evaluating them together, we gain a more accurate and meaningful understanding—leading to better diagnoses and more effective recommendations.

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that typically presents in early childhood, though it may not always be identified until later in life.

Individuals with autism vary widely. Some may have intellectual disabilities, while others have average or above-average intelligence. What defines autism is not intelligence, but patterns in communication, behavior, and interaction.

To meet criteria for an autism diagnosis, an individual must demonstrate challenges in two key areas:

  • Persistent differences in social communication and social interaction across multiple settings (such as home, school, or work)
  • Restricted or repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities, present in at least two forms

These differences can impact social, emotional, and cognitive development in meaningful ways, which is why a thorough and accurate evaluation is so important.

What the Evaluation Process Looks Like

To ensure the most accurate diagnosis and the most useful recommendations, the evaluation process is intentionally thorough and completed across multiple structured sessions.

The process includes:

  • A detailed background interview covering:
    • Early developmental history
    • Medical and health history
    • Current functioning across social, communication, academic, and daily living areas
  • Behavioral observations during each appointment to understand how the individual engages, communicates, and responds in real time
  • A combination of standardized assessments and clinical interpretation to fully understand strengths and areas of need

Autism-Specific Assessments Included

When evaluating for autism, I utilize gold-standard, research-supported measures, including:

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2)
  • Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R)
  • Autism Spectrum Rating Scales (ASRS)

These tools allow for a comprehensive and accurate understanding of social communication patterns, behaviors, and developmental history.

Psychoeducational & ADHD Testing

In addition to autism-specific tools, evaluations include a full psychoeducational and ADHD assessment when appropriate. This may include:

  • Intellectual (IQ) testing
  • Academic achievement testing (reading, writing, math)
  • Attention and executive functioning measures
  • Behavioral and emotional assessments
  • Adaptive functioning assessments
  • Language and communication testing
  • Visual-motor integration and processing measures

Additional targeted testing is included as needed to better understand specific areas such as reading, writing, math, or processing speed.

These evaluations can identify:

  • ADHD
  • Specific learning disorders (reading, writing, math)
  • Dyslexia
  • Processing speed differences
  • Intellectual giftedness

Children, Adolescents, and Adult Evaluations

Evaluations are available for children, adolescents, and adults, with each assessment tailored to the individual’s stage of life and specific concerns.

  • Child and adolescent evaluations often focus on school performance, social development, and early identification of learning or developmental differences
  • Adult evaluations are adapted to address different questions—such as long-standing attention concerns, workplace functioning, identity clarification, or understanding lifelong patterns

The process is adjusted accordingly to ensure it is relevant, meaningful, and useful.

What You Leave With

Every evaluation concludes with a comprehensive, easy-to-understand report and a detailed feedback session.

You will receive:

  • Clear diagnostic conclusions
  • A deep understanding of strengths and challenges
  • Extensive, individualized recommendations, including:
    • School accommodations (IEP/504 guidance)
    • At-home strategies
    • Therapy and intervention recommendations
    • Coordination with teachers and providers
    • Local community resources
    • Grant and support program options
    • Summer programs and enrichment opportunities

These recommendations are practical, specific, and designed to help you move forward with confidence.

A Specialist Approach You Can Trust

This is not a general service—it is a specialized area of expertise within my practice. My work across evaluation, therapy, parent support, and community collaboration allows me to provide a level of insight and guidance that goes beyond standard testing.

If you’re looking for clarity, direction, and a truly comprehensive understanding of autism, ADHD, or learning differences, this process is designed to give you exactly that.
